Abstract. This is a comparative analysis of the school program in geography and economics in the second gymnasium period and the academic curriculum plans of the Bachelor Program in Regional Development at UNWE. The results outline a high convergence between the profiled school education and the upscaling academic content in the analysed area. The conclusions are in three directions. The first one is the high continuity of the analysed school and academic curriculum. Second, it has been argued that bachelor’s degrees in “Regional Development” are qualified to teach high school students in this field. Thirdly, possibilities for additional qualification of teachers in these disciplines with post-graduate educational modules in the field of regional development and economy are outlined. The topic has current relevance because already two years students with profiled high school education are in the university system.
