Absract. Pedagogical research examines the conceptual emphases of critical thinking in the context of university education. This development is a contribution to the discussion on the problem of critical thinking as the main goal of the educational process at the university. The following are considered: conceptual accents for critical thinking as the main goal of university education; a set of content components and pedagogical mechanisms for effective organization of the educational process for the formation of critical thinking in students; one of the most popular scales for measuring critical thinking of UF/EMI. In the context of critical thinking, models of the modern personality and a system of critical thinking skills are presented, which are a major contribution to the research.
