Absract. The article is in memory of Marin Iliev Zhechev – scientist-chemist, researcher, poet, teacher, encyclopedist. He graduated in “Chemistry” at Sofia University and from August 1943 to May 1949 was an assistant professor of chemistry at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Sofia University. Co-author, together with Prof. Alexander Spasov, of scientific publications in Izvestia of the BAN - chemistry section, he also participated in a Chemistry textbook for technical schools. His main interests are in the field of elimination of arsenic from the phenarsazine ring and preparation of acyl derivatives. In 1977, he presented medication “Vabelin” to the Ministry of Public Health as a remedy against influenza. Hospitals in Sofia used his preparation “9,10” as a substitute for rivanol. He helped many people with medicines he prepared himself. Because of his prominent civic position, he spent 4 years in a concentration camp. His requests to the Patent Office have not been granted. Marin Zhechev devoted his whole life to chemistry. He starves, but procures the necessary chemicals for new experiments, his research was in an original way that no one or few would have thought of.
